MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals baseball team finished the Dairyfest weekend 2-2 after suffering a doubleheader loss to Chaseburg-Coon Valley on Sunday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield defeated Spooner 12-4 on Saturday afternoon before dropping the twinbill Sunday 3-2 and 8-3.
In the win over Spooner, Marshfield scored at least once in the first seven innings and Ryan Williams allowed just two earned runs and struck out 10 in six innings to earn the win.
Chuck Brehm had a double, a triple and four RBIs, and Sam Arnott had three hits and two RBIs for the Chaparrals.
In Game 1 of the Sunday doubleheader, Chaseburg-Coon Valley scored twice in the top of the seventh to snag the win.
Brad Stroik had held the Blues to just on run through six innings and Marshfield scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to give him the lead, but he couldn’t hold on.
Arnott and Brehm each had two hits for the Chaps.
In Game 2, Chaseburg-Coon Valley scored four runs in the top of the second and twice more in the fourth to pull away.
Williams had three of Marshfield’s seven hits in the loss.
Marshfield (6-3) continues its nine-game homestand with games against Plover on Wednesday, Sparta on Friday and Everest on Saturday at Hackman Field.
