Marshfield Chaparrals whip Sparta 10-1

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals baseball broke open a tight game with a five-run sixth inning and pounded Sparta Miller 10-1 on Friday night at Jack Hackman Field.

The Chaps (7-4) led 2-1 after 5½ innings before scoring five times in the sixth and adding three more in the eighth.

Brad Stroik earned the win on the mound for Marshfield, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out seven in eight innings.

Bobby Gregorich continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Josh Barnes added a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for Marshfield.

The Chaparrals’ game on Saturday against Everest was cancelled. Marshfield’s next game is Wednesday at home against Waupaca. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
