Owen-Withee overwhelms Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball

MARSHFIELD – Owen-Withee jumped out to a 25-6 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 79-33 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Aleyna Goerlitz scored eight of her game-high 24 points in the opening quarter and the Blackhawks hit three 3-pointers in the period to open up a quick double-digit lead.

Owen-Withee (4-1, 3-1 Cloverbelt East) pushed its lead to 42-14 by halftime.

Emily Heggemeier added 16 points – eight in the first quarter – and Stephany Heggemeier had 15 points for the Blackhawks.

Hannah Kruse had eight points and Elizabeth Manlick scored seven for Columbus (4-3, 2-2 Cloverbelt East).

Columbus plays at undefeated Neillsville on Friday.
