Stratford girls basketball loses on road to Wausau Newman

WAUSAU – Wausau Newman Catholic outscored Stratford in each quarter and pulled away to a 50-37 win in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Newman Catholic High School.

Newman held Stratford to 14 of 45 shooting in the win.

Hannah Schmitt scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Tigers (3-2, 1-2 Marawood South).

Abby Connolly and Kimberly Steif each scored 12 for Newman.

Newman improves to 4-1 and 2-1 in the conference.

Stratford returns to action Friday at undefeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
