Columbus Catholic boys basketball rips Colby; Konieczny all-time wins leader for Dons

MARSHFIELD – Jared Fleischmann scored 22 points to lead the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team to a 71-47 rout of Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

With the victory, Columbus Catholic coach Joe Konieczny became the all-time wins leader for Dons boys basketball. Konieczny improved his career record at Columbus to 131-51 and he passes the 130 wins accumulated by Jerry Koslowski from 1971-1985.

Jacob Puent scored 15 points and Alex Larson added 14 for the Dons (6-4, 3-4 Cloverbelt East).

The Dons outscored Colby 37-20 in the middle two quarters to pull away.

Trevor Bucholz had 12 points to lead the Hornets (1-6 overall and Cloverbelt East).

Columbus Catholic plays at Granton on Tuesday.
