Marshfield boys tennis has three champions, finishes second at Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament

WAUSAU – Wausau East won the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Tennis Tournament by just one point over Marshfield, but came up a point short of the overall conference title.

East finished with 31 points, one better than Marshfield’s 30, but Stevens Point garnered 26 points at the tournament and finished one point ahead of the Lumberjacks for the overall Valley championship.

Marshfield had three champions. Bryce Gadke won the No. 3 singles title, defeating Noah Hummel-Hall of Stevens Point 6-1, 6-0 in the championship match.

Jacob Limmex took the No. 4 singles title for the Tigers, winning a tiebreaker over Noah Stengl of Wausau East 5-7, 6-1, 10-6.

Marshfield’s No. 2 doubles team of Tanner Hayes and Zach Ott also won a conference title in a tiebreaker, knocking off Brady Becker and Jake Klug of Wausau East 6-4, 5-7, 11-9.

East had two champions and four runner-ups to edge the Tigers for the tournament title.
