MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls soccer team dominated play for the most part, but in the end fell short to Holmen, losing 2-1 in a nonconference matchup Monday night at Heiting Community Stadium at Marshfield High School.

Hayden Berger scored off an assist from Presley Franklin at the 26:01 mark to put Marshfield (3-7-1) on top 1-0.

Lydia Sader sent home a free kick in the 34th minute to tie the game and the score held until Olivia Schneider hit what proved to be the game-winer with 7 minutes remaining off a corner kick.

Marshfield outshot Holmen (6-1) 15-3 but fell short, losing its sixth game in a row.

Marshfield will play at first-place D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Tuesday at 7 p.m. at D.C. Everest Middle School.
