SUN PRAIRIE – The Marshfield boys soccer team opened up its 2013 season with a 1-1 record at the Sun Prairie Quad on Saturday.

The Tigers defeated Fort Atkinson 3-1 before losing to host Sun Prairie 3-1.

Matt McCann had two goals and Jake Limmex added another to push Marshfield to a 3-0 lead against Fort Atkinson, which scored its only goal with 10:10 remaining.

McCann had the Tigers’ lone score in the loss to Sun Prairie.

Alhagi Dukuray netted a hat trick, accounting for all of the Cardinals’ scoring.

Marshfield goalkeeper Matt Brown saved 18 shots in the win over Fort Atkinson and had seven against Sun Prairie.

“We know what we need to do to make it work,” Marshfield coach Ron Todryk said. “We played well against two good teams. The kids are working hard. We have all juniors and seniors on the varsity and they are really working well together already.”
