WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys golf team held on for its fifth second-place finish in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament at the sixth leg of the meet Tuesday at Wausau Country Club.
The Tigers shot a 334 to finish in second place by one shot over third-place Wausau East. Stevens Point won its fifth meet in six tries, shooting a 314.
The seventh and final leg of the tournament is Friday at Riveredge Golf Course in Marshfield.
Stevens Point’s Trevor Thomas had a 70 to earn meet medalist honors. Kyle Hoffman led Marshfield with a 81, finishing in a three-way tie for fourth.
Josh Berres and Craig Serchen each had 84, Ian Pillai shot an 85 and Derek Michalski shot an 89 for Marshfield.
