Champion Marshfield Columbus Catholic had three first-team and three second-team selections to the 2014 Mid-State Soccer Conference all-conference team.
Seniors Sean McCarthy, Christian Payant and Evan Hansen were named to the first team for the Dons, after lifting them to a 10-1-1 record in the Mid-State and a first-place finish.
Hannah Stratman, Ryan Dieringer and Farid Torbey were second-team selections for Columbus Catholic.
Overall this season, McCarthy had 24 goals and 11 assists to lead Columbus Catholic in both categories.
Dieringer finished with 13 goals and five assists, Payant had five goals and two assists, and Torbey scored twice for the Dons.
Hansen, the Dons’ goalkeeper, allowed just 16 goals and had 111 saves in 23 games as Columbus finished 15-5-3 overall and reached the WIAA Division 4 sectional final before losing in overtime to Barron.
Columbus Catholic coach Jeff Edwards was named Mid-State Coach of the Year.
“We had a tremendous year and I am extremely proud of this team,” Edwards said. “We tied the school record for least amount of goals allowed (16) and scored the second most goals in school history (85). This shows that we had an outstanding defense and offense.
“This team worked hard every day in practice and it showed on game days. We were able to win conference, win the regional, and advance to the sectional final. That is something to be proud of.”
