Marshfield girls cross country wins dual meet at Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls and Wisconsin Rapids boys won the 2015 Wood County Cross Country Classic on Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.

The annual dual meet pits the Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids teams against each other.

Mariah Matthews of Wisconsin Rapids won the girls race in 17:14, but Marshfield had the third- through seventh-place finishes to secure the team title by a score of 25-34.

Sophia Schordi was third (18:05), Lilly O’Brien was fourth (18:16), Jocie Anderson took fifth (18:33), Julianna Kollross finished sixth (18:52), and Molly Schuster ended up seventh (18:57) for Marshfield.

Joseph Comeau won the boys race for Rapids in 13:40 to lift the Raiders to the team title by a score of 23-32.

Carter Chojnacki topped the Tigers by taking third in 14:36. Paul Fischer was fourth (14:38), Jordan Dzikowich was sixth (14:41), Jacob Dick took ninth (14:57), and Sam Huettl finished 10th (15:01) for Marshfield.

Marshfield’s next meet is Oct. 1 at the Medford Invitational.
