Auburndale girls basketball blasts Pittsville

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team got back to its winning ways Monday with a 64-28 rout of Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division game at Auburndale High School.

A few days after suffering its first loss of the season to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, Auburndale scored 47 points in the first half to roll past the Panthers and improve to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Marawood South. Pittsville is 1-6 and 0-3 in the conference.

Paiton Richardson scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Taylor Gotz scored 14 points and added seven rebounds and seven assists for the Apaches.

Auburndale had 18 assists on 28 made field goals and held a 34-16 rebounding advantage in the win. All 11 Apaches scored in the game.

Auburndale is off until Jan. 5 when it plays at first-place Marathon.
