Stratford girls basketball comes up short vs. Assumption

STRATFORD – Three Stratford players scored in double figures but the Tigers couldn’t overcome a hot shooting performance from Wisconsin Rapids Assumption and lost 69-60 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Monday night at Stratford High School.

Assumption shot 55 percent (28 of 45) from the field and got 21 points form Macie Zurfluh and 17 more from Gena Grundhoffer to improve to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Marawood South.

Stratford (6-2, 2-2 Marawood South) was 18 of 35 shooting (51 percent), but were outrebounded 26-18 and were only 20 of 32 from the free throw line.

Savannah Schillinger had 15 points, and Sammy Griesbach and Macie Frueh each had 13 for Stratford.

The Tigers’ next game is Dec. 28 against Crandon at the Lakeland Tournament.
