Stratford boys basketball drops Marawood crossover at Prentice

PRENTICE – Prentice halted Stratford’s three-game winning streak with a 70-64 victory in the fifth-place game of the Marawood Conference boys basketball crossovers on Thursday night at Prentice High School.

Derrick Schmidt scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Tigers. He made 11 of 15 shots from the field as Stratford shot 54 percent (26 of 48) overall and was 6 of 12 from 3-point range.

Ethan Nagel drilled 5 of 7 from long range and added 17 points for the Tigers. Nick Stoflet chipped in seven points and six assists in the loss.

Stratford finishes the regular season with a 12-10 record and will open the WIAA playoffs with a Division 4 regional quarterfinal Tuesday at home against Coleman (9-12).
