WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys basketball team was held to 34 percent shooting and let a five-point halftime lead slip away as it lost to Wausau West 46-43 in its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference final on Thursday night at West High School.

Marshfield finishes the regular season with a 14-8 record and a 6-6 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, which places the Tigers in third place. They would have ended up a tie for second with West (11-11, 8-4 WVC) with a victory.

The loss ends the Tigers’ six-game winning streak.

Marshfield led 17-12 after a sluggish first half but couldn’t hold on as West outscored them 34-26 in the second half.

Alec Hinson was the only Tiger to reach double figures, finishing with 11 points. Tyson Slade added nine.

Marshfield will host Oshkosh West in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal on March 4.

Jakob Tordsen led Wausau West with 19 points and six rebounds.
