MERRILL – Marshfield swept the three doubles matches and went on to a 5-2 win over Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis match Tuesday.

The win is the Tigers’ first in the Wisconsin Valley Conference this season as they are now 1-2, as is Merrill.

Hanah Gadke and Ashley Schultz at No. 1, Tylene Dierickx and Alexis Means at No. 2, and Olivia Devadas and Kacy Wesolowski at No. 3 all won doubles matches in straight sets, losing a total of just seven games.

Dara Stichert at No. 2 and McKensey Koran at No. 4 also won singles matches for the Tigers.

On Monday, Marshfield lost to Stevens Point 7-0 in a make-up of a match that was rained out on Sept. 6.

Point won all four singles matches without losing a game. The closest Marshfield came to a victory was at No. 1 doubles, where Schultz and Gadke won the first set 6-4 against Suzie DeBot and Emily Meier, but lost the next two sets 6-2, 6-1.
