Stratford boys basketball holds off Pittsville

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team jumped out to a 10-point lead by halftime then held off a late charge to beat Pittsville at the buzzer 48-46 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.

Jacob Danen hit a layup off a pass from Cole Hoffmann as time expired to lift the Tigers to the win.

Stratford led 23-13 at halftime and held on at the end for the victory. Both teams are now 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Marawood South.

Stratford shot 50 percent (17 of 34) from the floor and hit five 3-pointers in the victory. Brenden Fecker led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points for the Tigers. Vaughn Breit and Danen each added nine points.

Aidan Masanz led Pittsville with 21 points.

Stratford is off until Jan. 3 when it plays a nonconference game at Edgar.
