Ten-run fifth inning pushes Neillsville/Granton past Columbus Catholic softball

MARSHFIELD – Neillsville/Granton scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth inning to blow open a tight game and beat Marshfield Columbus Catholic 16-6 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Monday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Columbus (1-3, 0-3 Cloverbelt East) led 5-4 after four innings before the Warriors (4-1, 3-0 Cloverbelt East) eruped for the big inning.

Eight walks by Columbus pitchers and five errors behind them contributed to the loss.

Maren Seefluth hit a home run for the Dons.

Columbus will host Gilman on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
