MARSHFIELD – Rhiannon Corozolla hit a home run and Melissa Roberts drove in a pair of runs to lift the Marshfield softball team to its fifth-straight victory, a 5-3 win over Wausau West in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Megan Donahue earned the win on the mound, striking out five and walking four in a complete-game effort for the Tigers (7-1, 4-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Jenna Jakobi led off the bottom of the first for Marshfield with a walk and she scored all the way from first on Morgan Nordbeck’s bunt that West fielded and threw into right field. Nordbeck later scored on a double steal to put the Tigers up 2-0.

West (5-6, 2-3 WVC) rallied to tie the game with a pair runs in the third inning before Marshfield regained the lead.

Corozolla homered in the fourth and Roberts had a two-run single in the fifth to give the Tigers a 5-2 lead.

West scored once in the top of the seventh before Donahue was able to finish off the win.

Marshfield hosts Antigo for a nonconference game Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
