MARSHFIELD – After more than a week off, the Marshfield Post 54 Junior American Legion baseball team picked up where it had left off with a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
The Blue Devils won 11-1 and 8-0 to improve to 12-6 overall and 9-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Legion League.
In Game 1, Tyler Spaeth struck out three and allowed just three hits in a five-inning complete game to earn the win as Marshfield won via the 10-run rule.
Riley Boushack and Devyn Palmer each had three hits, with Boushack driving in three runs for Marshfield. Mason Coffren also had three RBIs, and Caden Schillinger and Spaeth both added a pair of hits in the win.
Will Voss threw a six-inning complete game shutout in the second game, which ended after six due to lightning in the area.
Marshfield scored four runs in the first and third innings to give Voss all the offense he needed.
Tyler Pankratz went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Blue Devils.
Marshfield will host its annual Junior Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Blue Devils play South Wood County at 5 p.m. and Sheboygan at 8 p.m. to kick off the tournament Friday night.
