EAU CLAIRE – The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team dropped a pair of games at the Eau Claire Tournament on Saturday, losing to Winona (Minn.) LeJetz 9-1 and host Eau Claire XX.
In the loss to Winona, Marshfield struck first with a run in the second inning but that was all it could muster against Winona starter Easton Gamoke, who allowed just one hit and three walks in five innings, while striking out six.
LeJetz tied the game with a run in the third then busted it open with a six-run fourth against Marshfield starter Jacob Neve.
Marshfield (8-10) was held to four hits in the loss to Eau Claire. Paul Maguire had an RBI double to score Ryan Krueger with the Blue Devils’ only run.
Marshfield wraps up play at the tournament with a game at 11 a.m. Sunday against Altoona and the Blue Devils will play their home finale Tuesday against Plover at 7 p.m. at Hackman Field.
