Marshfield girls basketball drops home game to Chippewa Falls

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team couldn’t hold on to a slight halftime lead and dropped a nonconference game to Chippewa Falls 61-54 on Tuesday at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield led 32-31 at halftime, but was held to 22 points in the second half in losing its second game in a row and falling to 8-11 this season.

Caelen Givens had 24 points and nine rebounds, and Ashley Hanley made all four of her 3-point attempts and scored 15 points to lead Chippewa Falls (12-7).

Meg Bryan made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points to top the Tigers. Hannah Meverden was 9 of 11 at the free throw line and added 15 points, and Jenna Jakobi had 13 points and six rebounds for Marshfield.

Marshfield hosts Wausau East on Friday.
