Dons girls tennis team wins GNC opener

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls tennis team rolled to a 7-0 rout of Phillips in its Great Northern Conference opener Tuesday at the Oak Street and UW-Marshfield/Wood County courts.

Columbus Catholic won six of the seven matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 shutouts by Elizabeth Manlick at No. 1 singles and Scout Inman at No. 2 singles.

Rebecca Lamermayer gutted out a tough three-set match, beating Corinne Schuh at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, for the Dons.

Columbus (3-1 overall) plays at the Diocesan Meet at La Crosse on Wednesday.
