Ackley tops 1,000 career points in Stratford girls basketball team’s win at Lakeland

MINOCQUA – Breanna Ackley scored a career-high 35 points to surpass the 1,000-point plateau for her career and lift the Stratford girls basketball team to a 75-63 win over Lakeland in a nonconference game Saturday at Lakeland High School.

Ackley was 12-for-17 from the field, including 5-for-7 from 3-point range, and made 6 of 9 free throws in the win, and now stands at 1,031 career points for the Tigers.

Emily Hughes added 21 points and 11 rebounds for Stratford, which improves to 12-7.

Julianna Ouimette had 40 points for Lakeland (14-10).

Stratford will finish its regular-season and Marawood Conference South Division schedule with a game at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Monday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. With a win, the Tigers girls would tie Auburndale for the conference title. The girls game starts at 5:45 p.m., with the boys to follow. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
