Wisconsin Rapids holds off Marshfield in WVC boys basketball finale

MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids raced out to a double-digit lead in the first half and held off Marshfield 50-44 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference and regular-season finale for both teams on Thursday at Marshfield High School.

Wisconsin Rapids led 30-20 at halftime and were able to hold on at the end to earn a split in the season series.

Dylan Lisitza had 21 points, and Grant Flory had 11 points and nine rebounds for Wisconsin Rapids (7-11, 4-8 WVC).

Chase Hinson scored 17 points for the Tigers, who have now lost 12 games in a row and finish the regular season 2-17 overall and 2-10 in the Valley.

Both teams will play WIAA Division 1 regional quarterfinals on the road on Tuesday. Wisconsin Rapids will be at Holmen and Marshfield will play at Eau Claire North.
