Columbus Catholic boys basketball dominates Spencer to clinch outright Cloverbelt East title

SPENCER – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team clinched the outright Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship with a 75-49 win over Spencer on Thursday at Spencer High School.

The Dons finish the regular season with an 18-5 overall record and a 13-1 mark in the Cloverbelt East, winning the conference championship for the fifth time in the last six years.

Lucas Kreklau had 15 points, and Charlie Moore and Cy Becker each chipped in 11 points for the Dons.

Kaleb Brandt had 29 points for Spencer (2-17, 2-11 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer finishes its regular season Saturday at Loyal before opening postseason play with a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal at Abbotsford on Tuesday.

Columbus Catholic is off until Feb. 19 when it hosts a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Loyal and Greenwood.
