Loyal pulls away in second half to beat Columbus Catholic in WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional semifinal

LOYAL – Katlyn Lindner hit four 3-pointers and had a game-high 16 points to lift Loyal to a 52-28 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional semifinal Friday night at Loyal High School.

No. 2 seed Loyal (12-6) moves on to a regional final at No. 1 seed Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday at 7 p.m. Assumption rolled past Greenwood 75-29 on Friday.

Columbus Catholic ends its season with a 12-11 record.

Columbus Catholic, which lost to Loyal twice during the regular season, held close in the first half, trailing 20-15 at halftime.

The Greyhounds were able to pull away in the second half, holding Columbus Catholic to just four made baskets the rest of the way and outscored the Dons 32-13 over the final 18 minutes.

Maggie Callaghan and Kelsey Moore each had eight points to lead Columbus Catholic.
