SPENCER – Cole Timmler threw a complete-game three-hitter to lift the Columbus Catholic baseball team to a 7-1 in over Spencer in Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Thursday at Spencer High School.

Spencer led 1-0 after the first inning, but that was all the Rockets could manage against Timmler, who followed up a five-inning no-hitter last Friday with another gem for Columbus.

Timmler struck out six, walked just one and three six-straight shutout innings after allowing a run in the first.

The Dons tied the game with a run in the third, added two more in the fourth to pull ahead, and four insurance runs in the fifth to win going away.

Brock Bennington and Cy Becker each had two RBIs, and Blake Jakobi had two hits and drove in a run for Columbus Catholic (4-5, 3-1 Cloverbelt East).

Chase Higgins had all three hits for Spencer, including a double and a triple, and scored the Rockets’ lone run.

Both teams return to action Friday with Cloverbelt East contests. Columbus Catholic is at Granton, while Spencer hosts Owen-Withee. Both games begin at 5 p.m.
