Marshfield Junior Legion baseball wins, Senior team loses at Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield American Legion baseball teams played a Junior/Senior doubleheader at Bukolt Park on Friday against the Stevens Point Sixers.

The Marshfield Junior team won 2-1 and Stevens Point took the Senior game with a 1-0 victory in a pair of well-pitched games.

Xane Adler delivered an RBI single to score Brady Schmidt in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Junior Devils to the victory.

Brock Bennington had an RBI single in the second inning for Marshfield’s other run.

Braeden Schueller pitched seven innings, giving up one run and two hits, while striking out four for Marshfield. Ian Brown came in and threw two shutout innings, and earned the victory.

The Marshfield Junior team is now 5-5 this season and will play a doubleheader at Antigo on Monday.

In the Senior game, Stevens Point scored the only run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Benett Klish with one out.

Kale Weisenberger went the distance for Marshfield (0-2), allowing five hits and two walks, while striking out six.

Riley Bauman, Chandler Schmidt and Colten Schillinger each had singles for the Blue Devils.

Marshfield’s scheduled doubleheader at Appleton Post 38 on Saturday has been postponed until Sunday and will start at 4 p.m. Marshfield’s home opener is Monday night at 7 p.m. against Plover at Jack Hackman Field.
