SCHOFIELD – D.C. Everest scored twice late to pull past Marshfield 3-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer game on Tuesday at D.C. Everest Middle School.

Mathews Molina scored an unassisted goal 10:15 into to the game to give the Tigers (2-2, 1-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference) to a quick 1-0 lead.

D.C. Everest’s Oliver Nazari-Witt scored on a free kick to tie the game in the 28th minute and it remained 1-1 until Lennon True scored in the 68th and 72nd minute as the Evergreens (3-1-1, 2-0-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference) pulled out the win.

“We were on our heels a good portion of the game but our defense with Gavin Young, Braxton Kurth, Caden Iwanski and Afton Hamil did a fantastic job of keeping D.C. Everest at bay with only a few shots that weren’t the best quality,” Marshfield coach Jeff Molter said. “We adjusted our formation and personnel from the last game due to an injury in the Merrill game to one of our starting backs (Lukas Barth) so it took us a bit to settle in and get the confidence back to transition and attack. DCE finally wore us down in the end, unfortunately the score doesn’t reflect how well we improved and play from 00:00 to 80:00.”

Marshfield hosts Wausau East at Heiting Community Stadium at 7 p.m. Thursday.
