AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale softball team split a pair of nonconference games over the weekend, losing 10-0 at Athens on Friday before responding with a 9-6 win at home over Northland Pines on Saturday.
In the win on Friday, Erin Griesbach went 3-for-3 with RBI singles in the first and second innings, and Regynn Lau added two hits and four RBI, with two-run singles in the first and sixth for Auburndale.
Ashlyn Grimm earned the win with a complete game, striking out three and walking just one. She also had two hits and scored twice.
Samantha Stanton added two runs scored with two singles for Auburndale (8-8).
Athens’ pitcher Sierra Hart limited Auburndale to just one hit in the five-inning win on Friday.
Elle Gaurke had a home run and scored twice, and Jenna Handschke had two hits and two runs scored for the Bluejays (11-4).
Auburndale plays a nonconference game at Loyal/Greenwood on Monday.
