Marshfield Junior Legion holds off Chippewa Falls to stay alive in U-17 regional

MERRILL – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team survived its second elimination game at the U-17 Regional Tournament on Saturday, holding off Chippewa Falls 10-9 at Athletic Park.

Marshfield scored eight times in the first two innings and held a 10-6 lead after six innings before Chippewa Falls rallied for three runs in the seventh. Chase Robinson was able to coax a pair of groundballs to end the threat and send the Junior Devils into the final four of the double-elimination tournament.

Aden Cherney went 3-for-4 with four RBI, Madden Prybylski drove in three runs, and Robinson had two hits and scored three times for Marshfield.

Marshfield (15-15) will take on Wausau at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Wausau is undefeated in the tournament at 3-0 and will automatically move into Monday’s championship round. Plover will take on Wisconsin Rapids in the other matchup Sunday at noon with the winner moving on to Monday.
