MARSHFIELD – The Amherst boys soccer team scored three unanswered goals to hand Marshfield Columbus Catholic its first Central Wisconsin Conference loss of the season with a 3-1 decision on Thursday at Griese Park.

The Dons’ nine-game winning streak was snapped as they fall to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the CWC, but remain in first place, two points ahead of Amherst (5-6-2, 4-1-1 CWC).

Alex Edwards scored at the 10:59 mark of the first half to give Columbus Catholic an early lead, only to see Amherst come back shortly after as Spencer Cohen knocked in a goal in the 21st minute.

The tie score held into the second half when Drew Lewallen scored in the 46th and 63rd minutes for Amherst and the Falcons’ defense did the rest.

Alex Martin made five saves for Amherst, and Lucas Kreklau had three in goal for Columbus Catholic.
