SPENCER – The Marshfield girls had its top five runners finish in the top 11 to take the team title and Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer won the boys race at the Spencer Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Frey Field.
Natalie Scharenbroch took second place for the Marshfield girls, running in 20:12.7. Autumn Michalski of Chequamegon won the race in 18:47.3.
Michaela Dick finished eighth (21:59.2), Carolina Sullenger took ninth (22:03.1), Lauryn Katzenberger was 10th (22:13.8) and Kassidy Christopher finished 11th (22:23.3) to round out the Tigers’ scoring runners. Claire Malone also took 12th (22:31.5) for Marshfield.
Marshfield finished with 32 points, with Colby second with 45. Marshfield Columbus Catholic and Spencer had incomplete teams.
Rachel Neiman topped Spencer, taking 35th in 24:33.4.
Columbus Catholic’s top runner was Jenny Schneider, wo finished 44th in 26:06.5.
Chequamegon won the boys team title with 63 points, just four better than Marshfield. Columbus Catholic was sixth with 154 and Spencer eighth with 217.
Scheer won his first race of the season after numerous runner-up finishes, running in 17:16.4, 33 seconds ahead of second-place Max Adams of Chequamegon.
Owen Hoerneman of Marshfield took third in 17:54.6 and Thomas Cashmer was eighth in 18:20.8 to lead the Tigers.
Spencer’s top runner was Malachai Anderson, who finished 36th in 20:58.0.
