Auburndale girls basketball outlasts Marathon

AUBURNDALE – Annamarie Aue made all 11 of her free throw attempts and finished with 23 points to lead the Auburndale girls basketball team to a 52-48 win over Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Auburndale High School.

Marathon led 27-26 at halftime before Auburndale was able to eke out the win on the strength of its free throw shooting as the Eagles finished 23-for-30 at the line. Marathon, on the other hand, was just 9 of 21.

Ashlyn Grimm added 17 points for Auburndale, which is now 8-4 overall and 4-3 in the Marawood South.

Kali Prihoda scored 14 points for Marathon (4-7, 2-5 Marawood South).

Auburndale hosts Stratford for a Marawood South game Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
