Four second-period goals push Chippewa Falls/Menomonie past Wisconsin Valley Union girls hockey

MARSHFIELD – Chippewa Falls/Menomonie scored four times in the second period and held on to beat the Wisconsin Valley Union co-op girls hockey team 4-1 on Monday at the Marshfield Area Ice Arena.

Following a scoreless first period, the Sabers scored four times in a 12-minute portion of the second period to take control.

Jenna Jones had a goal off an assist by Sonia Dissanayke 1:37 into the third period for the Union, but that would be all they could muster.

Chippewa Falls/Menomonie (11-7-1) outshot Wisconsin Valley 41-12. Grace Lawrence made 37 saves in goal for the Union, who fall to 4-17.

Wisconsin Valley plays at Brookfield on Thursday before finishing its regular-season schedule Feb. 7 at Hudson.
