Stratford softball rallies past Athens

WISCONSIN DELLS – The Stratford softball team used a pair of five-run innings to push past Athens 13-8 in a nonconference game Monday at the Woodside Sports Complex.

Stratford scored five times in the third and sixth innings, sandwiched around a three-run fifth, to earn the victory and improve to 3-1 this season.

Laney Pankratz earned the pitching win, striking out eight, for the Tigers.

Tessa Berg had a single, a triple and two RBI, Bailey Linzmaier drove in four runs on a pair of hits, and Sonia Peterson and Kessa Wenzel also had two hits each, with Wenzel driving in three runs in the win.

Stratford’s next scheduled game is Monday at home at Hilgemann Field against Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in its Marawood Conference South Division opener.
