Columbus Catholic baseball rallies past Spencer

SPENCER – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team scored multiple runs in three-straight innings to overcome an early deficit and defeated Spencer 9-3 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Spencer High School.

The win gives Columbus Catholic sole possession of second place in the conference at 7-2 (8-6 overall), breaking a tie with Spencer (9-6, 6-3 Cloverbelt East).

Mac Konieczny allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings and earned the win, and his brother Emmitt Konieczny cleaned up by throwing 2 2/3 innings of shutout baseball to pick up the save.

Blake Jakobi had three hits and an RBI, and Cy Becker and Grant Olson each had two hits and two RBI to lead the Columbus offense.

Andrew Sieracki had two hits and drove in all three of Spencer’s runs.

Columbus Catholic plays Amherst and Rosholt at the Rosholt Triangular on Saturday. Spencer is off until Monday when it hosts Loyal.
