VIROQUA – The Marshfield Senior Legion baseball team dropped both ends of a nonconference doubleheader to Viroqua, losing 6-4 and 5-2 on Friday night.
Brock Bennington hit a pair of home runs and drove in all four of Marshfield’s runs in the opener. Isaac Zeps was 3-for-3 as well for the Blue Devils (4-19).
In Game 2, Marshfield had eight hits but could only muster two runs. Four errors by the Blue Devils hurt the cause on the other end as only one of Viroqua’s five runs were earned against starting pitcher Sloan Welch.
Chase Robinson and Judd Higgins each had two hits, with Higgins and Bennett Lang driving in runs for the Blue Devils.
Marshfield will finish its regular season Sunday at Stevens Point. The game, at Bukolt Park, will begin at 7 p.m. Marshfield will open play in the Class AAA regional at Plover on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
