LA CROSSE – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball team opened its 2023-24 season with 79-59 nonconference loss to Western Tech on Saturday.

Marshfield led by 11 points in the first half before the Cavaliers slowly chipped away and drew even with 10 minutes left.

The game went back-and-forth before a late run by Western Tech netted a 10-point lead, when the Marauders pulled the starters to get quality minutes in for the role players.

Owen Hanson had 21 points and Caleb Rucker added 11 for the Marauders.

The Marauders will play their home opener on Wednesday against Bryant and Stratton JV. This will be a conference game with start time at 6:15 p.m. There will be a TV giveaway this year for all home games. We had a 65-inch TV donated to us by Bents Chiropractic that we will be giving away at the end of the season. Spectators get a free entry at every home game for a chance to win.
