Poynette tops Stratford girls basketball

POYNETTE – The Stratford girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Poynette 72-51 in a nonconference game Monday night at Poynette High School.

The Tigers shot just 31.5 percent (18 of 57) in the loss as drop to 1-1.

Kayla Casperson scored 12 points and Sailor Kauffman added 10 for Stratford.

Avalyn Albrecht led Poynette (4-0) with 22 points and 17 rebounds as she finished 12-for-13 at the free throw line.

Stratford returns to action Friday with a Marawood Conference crossover game at home against Prentice as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game starts at 5:30 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
