Spencer girls basketball drops home game to Edgar

SPENCER – Edgar jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half and went on to defeat Spencer 53-31 in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night at Spencer High School.

The Wildcats (3-1) ran out to a 29-11 lead by halftime and Spencer (1-1) was unable to make up any ground in the second half as it dropped its first game of the season.

Makayla Wirkus scored 20 points to lead Edgar.

Autumn Davis topped the Rockets with 15 points.

Spencer was hurt by its free throw shooting as it made just 9 of 26 attempts, while Edgar was 18 of 27.

Spencer will have a week off before it opens its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
