Marshfield girls basketball outlasts Merrill to win WVC opener

MARSHFIELD – Ashley Grancorvitz scored 18 points and Ayana Bousum added 12 as the Marshfield girls basketball team won its third game a row, downing Merrill 56-47 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Marshfield High School.

Grancorvitz hit three 3-pointers and Bousum two in the victory for the Tigers, who are now 4-1 overall.

McKenzie Holm chipped in nine points for Marshfield.

Marshfield is back in action Friday at home against Wisconsin Rapids. The Tigers will play the first game of a girls-boys doubleheader at 6:30 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 8:15 p.m.
