Stratford boys basketball dominates second half, slams Athens

ATHENS – Stratford drilled 12 3-pointers and outscored Athens by 21 points in the second half to earn a convincing 66-35 win over Athens in a Marawood Conference crossover game Tuesday at Athens High School.

The Tigers (3-0) were 12-for-24 from 3-point range as eight different players connected from long range, and shot 47 percent overall from the field (25-for-53).

Drew Bruesewitz scored 18 points and Brady Schmidt added 13 points for Stratford.

Stratford led 32-22 at halftime before the Tigers pulled away with a dominating 34-13 advantage in the second half.

Stratford will host the Northeast Wisconsin Christian Home School Athletic Association team on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. for a nonconference game.
