Marathon pulls away in second half to top Stratford boys basketball

MARATHON – Marathon outscored Stratford by 14 points in the second half to break open a tight game and win 60-40 in a battle of unbeaten boys basketball teams Tuesday night at Marathon High School.

Stratford trailed 21-15 at halftime and couldn’t make a dent in the deficit in the second half as the Raiders pulled away.

Henry Zaleski scored 11 points and Brady Schmidt added 10 for the Tigers, who shot just 25 percent from the field (13-for-51) and were 4-for-26 from 3-point range.

Marathon remains undefeated at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Marawood Conference South Division, while Stratford drops to 4-1 and 2-1 in conference play.

Marathon statistics were not provided.

Stratford will host Edgar in another Marawood South game Friday at 7:15 p.m.
