FREEDOM – Marshfield senior wrestler Justin Sternweis continued his strong season, winning the 182-pound championship on Saturday at the Freedom Irish Invitational.
Sternweis defeated Ryan Jazdzewski of Burlington 5-2 in the championship match to improve to 30-1 this season.
The Tigers had only two other wrestlers place in the top six in the tournament and finished in 11th place in the team standings. Burlington won the team title with 214 points, well ahead of second-place Oshkosh West (161).
Mitch Hertel (132 pounds) and Austin Mahoney (160) each finished fourth for Marshfield.
Hertel dropped the third-place match to Cole Yoder of Oshkosh West 5-2, while Mahoney lost his third-place match to Mitchell Cole of Ashwaubenon 7-1.
Marshfield will be back in action Thursday when it hosts Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match.
