2013 Stratford STAR Men’s Basketball League playoffs begin with seven first-round games

STRATFORD – The 2013 Stratford STAR Men’s Basketball League playoffs started Sunday, March 17, with seven games.

Resource Recovery received a first-round bye. In action on the courts Sunday:

*Marawood Construction knocked off A&B Processing 80-70. Kevin Spindler led Marawood with 20 points, while Andy Bliven had 22 and Kyle Davis 20 for A&B.

*Aaron Linzmeier had 39 points, Derek Novotny scored 31 and Matt Klawitter had 28 in Kizzy & Sue’s Bar & Grill’s 131-68 rout of Southway Pub.

*Jimmy Flink scored 32 points and Brian Bartnik added 24 as Smazel’s Hunters Choice beat Down Under Bar & Grill 86-73. Chris Kalk had 21 for Down Under.

*Lindsey Bar & Grill whipped After Hours 122-89. Brant Serchen had 33 points, Dan Dargenio scored 28 and Lee Follen chipped in with 20 for Lindsey. Ryan Jakobi had 25 in the loss for After Hours.

*Victory Apparel poured in a league-high 147 points in a 147-51 whipping of Country Wireless. Bill Beyeck had a whopping 67 points in the win for Victory Apparel. Conner Staab added 22 for the winners.

*Arby’s toppled Kakfa Granite 119-81. Jeremy Bulgrin scored 32 points, Chad Sternitzky had 27 and Justin Schmoll scored 21 for Arby’s. Ryan Schalow topped Kakfa with 45 points.

*USBancorp beat The Shack 88-60 behind 20 points from Malachi David. Marshal Lehman scored 21 for The Shack.
