Daulton Varsho smacks seventh-inning homer to lift Marshfield baseball past Tomah

TOMAH – Daulton Varsho had three hits, including a three-run home run, and drove in five runs overall to lead the Marshfield baseball team to an 8-6 victory over Tomah in a nonconference game Thursday.

Varsho had a single, a double, and the big home run in the top of the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie. He also scored three times.

Caleb Alexander added a pair of hits and three runs scored for the Tigers, who improve to 3-0 this season.

Trevor Schwecke picked up the win, allowing two runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings of relief. Dylan Budtke earned the save with two strikeouts in the seventh.

Marshfield is scheduled to play a Wisconsin Valley Conference doubleheader at Mauston against Wausau East on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. The games were moved to the Woodside Sports Complex to make-up for a postponed game from April 15.
