Altoona pulls past Columbus Catholic boys basketball in Cloverbelt crossover third-place game

ALTOONA – Altoona outscored Columbus Catholic by 13 points in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a 62-50 victory in the third-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference crossovers on Thursday night at Altoona High School.

Columbus (14-8) led 41-40 entering the fourth quarter before the Railroaders (13-9) pulled away.

Max Bawden had 24 points to lead four Altoona players in double figures.

Evan Nikolai had 13 points and Tyler Fuerlinger added 12 for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic will open postseason action Tuesday with a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal at home against Abbotsford at 7 p.m.
