Auburndale girls basketball uses big first half to down Whitehall in WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team dominated the first half, rolling out to a 21-point lead, and cruised to a 64-46 win over Whitehall in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Friday night at Auburndale High School.

The No. 4 Eagles led 40-19 after an impressive first half and were not threatened. Auburndale (16-9) moves into a D-4 regional final at No. 1 seed Neillsville (21-4) on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Neillsville pounded Onalaska Luther 48-28 on Friday.

Mya Krings led a balanced scoring attack for Auburndale with 12 points and Lily Bellanti added 10 in the win as 10 different Eagles scored in the game.

Olivia Killian had a game-high 20 points for Whitehall (15-9).

Auburndale lost to Neillsville in its home holiday tournament 59-25 back on Dec. 28.
